MoneyGeek ranked the best car insurance companies In Portland, Oregon, based on quotes and evaluations made by independent agencies, including J.D. Power, AM Best and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

MoneyGeek applied the following weightings to each assessment category:

  • Affordability (70%): MoneyGeek collected average car insurance rates from insurers in Portland and rated them on a scale of one to five based on their affordability. The lowest-priced insurer could receive a score of five.
  • Customer and claims satisfaction (20%): MoneyGeek examined surveys from J.D. Power to measure customer satisfaction and claims ratings of companies, with each weighted at 10%.
  • Financial stability (10%): MoneyGeek used AM Best ratings to score insurance companies on a scale of one to five based on their ability to fulfill financial obligations despite economic variability.
