MoneyGeek analyzed insurance companies in Salt Lake City, Utah, based on affordability, customer satisfaction, and financial stability ratings to find the best providers in the city. We compiled data from independent agencies, including J.D. Power, AM Best and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

MoneyGeek’s scoring system weighted scores for the different assessment categories as follows:

  • Affordability (70%): MoneyGeek collected average car insurance costs from insurance companies in Salt Lake City and ranked them on a scale of one to five based on their affordability.
  • Customer and claims satisfaction (20%): MoneyGeek evaluated surveys from J.D. Power to measure customer satisfaction scores for different providers. We weighted user satisfaction and claims scores at 10% each.
  • Financial stability (10%): MoneyGeek used AM Best ratings to score providers on a scale of one to five based on the provider’s capacity to fulfill financial obligations to their clients.

MoneyGeek applied a 100-point scale to the overall scores. We calculated affordability scores using different variables, including age, driving record and coverage levels adjusted as appropriate for specific driver profiles.

All rates reflect the average premiums for a full coverage policy with the following limits:

  • $100,000 bodily injury liability per person
  • $300,000 bodily injury liability per accident
  • $100,000 property damage liability
