Wyndham Hotels & Resorts comprises 22 brands and over 8,900 hotels spread across 95 countries. Whether you travel on a budget or in the lap of luxury, chances are that Wyndham has something for you. The group runs the Wyndham Rewards program for its customers who wish to make the most of their stays.
How much Wyndham points are worth depends on how you redeem them. Ideally, you should aim to get a value of at least 1.1 cents per point, with this being the average mark. In some cases, you may even get a value of 2 cents or more per point.
As a Wyndham Rewards member, you can earn points when you stay at Wyndham properties, use a co-branded Wyndham credit card or spend through the program’s partner merchants. You can redeem your points for stays or transfer them to the program’s transfer partners. You can also use them to pay for tours and activities, buy gift cards and make everyday purchases.
Free reward nights come in three tiers, starting at 7,500 Wyndham points per bedroom. The go fast option lets you use as little as 1,500 points plus cash to get discounted stays at participating properties.
Joining this rewards program might be worth it if you see yourself staying at Wyndham properties once in a while, even if it’s sporadically. Once you join, you get 10 points per dollar, up to a maximum of 1,000 points, per stay. You also can enjoy free Wi-Fi during your stay.

How Much Are Wyndham Rewards Points Worth?
The value of Wyndham points can vary greatly even when you use them to book hotel rooms. In some instances, you may get a value of less than 1 cent per point. In others, one Wyndham point’s value might be more than 2 cents. Ideally, you should aim to get a value of 1.1 cents or more per point.
Cash Price / Equivalent Points needed to book a room = Points Value
You may determine the value you receive for your Wyndham points by dividing the number of points you need for a reward night by its cash equivalent. For example, if you need 30,000 points for a night that otherwise costs $600, you get a value of 2 cents per point (600/30,000 = $0.02).
How Many Wyndham Rewards Points for a Free Night?
The Wyndham Rewards redemption chart keeps things fairly simple. It has three tier nights from which to choose, which vary depending on the property you select.
- Tier 1: 7,500 points per bedroom
- Tier 2: 15,000 points per bedroom
- Tier 3: 30,000 points per bedroom
If you'd like to redeem your points for a stay but haven't yet accumulated enough points, Wyndham offers its members a go fast option. This redemption method allows you to use your points plus cash to book a stay. This alternative comes with three tiers as well.
- Tier 1: 1,500 points per bedroom
- Tier 2: 3,000 points per bedroom
- Tier 3: 6,000 points per bedroom
How Often Do Wyndham Rewards Points Change?
The last change in the value of Wyndham points took place in February 2020. That resulted in a more lucrative redemption value for stays at close to 500 properties. Even so, it also made it more expensive to stay at other properties: around 80 hotels moved into the 30,000 points segment, and around 220 transitioned from requiring 7,500 points to 15,000 points.
There is no telling when Wyndham might change its policy again. So it's usually best practice to avoid hanging on to your points for too long. While your points might fetch better value after a change, the reverse may hold true as well.
How Wyndham Rewards Points Compare to Other Hotels

Rollover nights never expire. Plus, when you use your points for reward nights at all-inclusive properties, your stay includes complimentary meals, drinks and amenities for up to two guests.

If you're wondering how to earn Wyndham points, know that the process is simple. You earn them when you stay at hotels, resorts and other properties that are part of the Wyndham Rewards program and by using co-branded Wyndham Rewards credit cards. You also can earn points when you make purchases with partner merchants such as Bakkt, Home Chef, Avis and Marathon Gas.

The Wyndham Rewards program gives people who stay at its properties the opportunity to earn and redeem reward points in different ways. There are no fees to become a member, and you may enroll online. The information you need to provide includes your name, email address, country of residence and phone number.
You don't earn any bonus points when you join this program. Even so, moving forward, you earn points for eligible stays at participating properties.
Book a Stay at Wyndham Hotels
Every qualified stay at a property that's part of the Wyndham Rewards program (including Wyndham Vacation Clubs) earns either 10 points per dollar or 1,000 points per stay, whichever is the greater amount.
Popular brands that are part of this rewards program include Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Alltra, The Registry Collection Hotels, Wyndham Grand, Wyndham Garden, Ramada and Baymont.
Members also stand to earn 10 Wyndham points per dollar (up to 1,000 points) on eligible stays at over 30 Caesars Rewards properties.
Earn Points via Wyndham Co-Branded and Regular Credit Cards
Barclays provides three co-branded Wyndham Rewards credit cards that let you earn rewards points faster through category-based spending. While two cards charge annual fees, one does not. All three come with spend-based welcome offers through which you can earn bonus points.

Buying Points From Wyndham
It is possible to purchase Wyndham points, and you may buy them in increments of 1,000. Each point costs 1.3 cents, so you need to pay $13 for every 1,000 points.
If you purchase Wyndham points during promotional offers, you can receive points bonuses that typically vary from 25% to 40%. For example, if you buy points with a 40% bonus, you'll get 1,400 points for $13, where each point would cost just shy of 0.93 cents.
It's important to look at the value you stand to receive for the points you buy before you move forward with the purchase. For example, if you need extra points to redeem a reward night that offers a value of 1.6 cents per point, buying points at 1.3 cents each makes sense.
Spending With Wyndham Partner Merchants
Spending with the program's partner merchants gives you opportunities to earn Wyndham points faster.
- Home Chef: New customers earn 2,500 Wyndham Rewards points on their first box and 500 points for every additional box.
- Shopping: Get up to 45 points per dollar through partner merchants such as Restaurant.com, Under Armour, Dior, Apple and Macy's.
- Avis: Qualifying rentals earn 100 Wyndham Rewards points per day.
- Opinion Rewards Panel: Get 500 points after you complete your first survey.
- Marathon Gas: Get points on fuel and other eligible purchases.
- Bakkt: Get 1,250 points by linking your Wyndham Rewards account with Bakkt and redeem them as cash or to make your first purchase.
- Tours and Activities: Get 10 points per dollar on bookings you make through Wyndham Tours & Activities.
Transferring Points to Wyndham Rewards
Wyndham is a Citi ThankYou transfer partner, so if you have a credit card linked to the Citi ThankYou Rewards program, you may transfer your points to your Wyndham Rewards account. Depending on your card, you may get a 1:0.8 or 1:1 ratio. Therefore, if you transfer 1,000 Citi ThankYou points, you'll get 800 or 1,000 Wyndham Rewards points.
How to Redeem Wyndham Rewards Points
To redeem Wyndham points, members have several different options. For starters, you can redeem them for free award stays at various Wyndham locations. You may also use them for discounted stays at all participating properties that are part of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Wyndham Vacation Clubs, Caesars Rewards, Vacasa, Cottages.com and Landal GreenParks. To begin the process, you simply need to log in to your Wyndham Rewards account.
The number of points you need for a free reward night varies based on your chosen property. Tier 1 properties require 7,500 points per bedroom, Tier 2 properties require 15,000 points per bedroom, and you need 30,000 points per bedroom for a Tier 3 redemption.
Since room rates are subject to change based on various factors, the value you receive for your points may vary significantly. For example, a night at The New Yorker could cost anywhere from $125 to upward of $500, and a reward night at this property requires 30,000 points. If you book when the cash rate is $125, you get a value of around 0.42 cents per point. However, if you book when the cash rate is $500, you receive a value of around 1.66 cents per point. So, if you're wondering how to maximize the value of Wyndham points, remaining flexible with your travel plans is the way to go.
Other ways to redeem Wyndham points include using them for shopping, transferring them to the program's transfer partners and donating them to charity.
Transfer Points to Miles
You may transfer Wyndham points to any of the program's airline partners or the Caesars Rewards program. Transfers to most airline partners take place at a 5:1 ratio, meaning you get one airline mile for every five Wyndham points. In addition, you need to transfer at least 6,000 points. The program's airline partners include:
- Aeromexico Club Premier
- Air Canada Aeroplan
- American Airlines AAdvantage
- Avianca LifeMiles
- Fortune Wings Club
- Frontier Airlines Frontier Miles
- Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- United MileagePlus
Transfers to the Caesars Rewards program take place at a 1:1 ratio.
Can I Use My Points for Something Else?
Using your Wyndham points to make partial payments toward your vacation ownership maintenance fees and exchange fees is possible. In this case, you need to redeem at least 10,000 points, for which you typically get a value of $50, or 0.5 cents per point. You get this transfer ratio when you redeem your points for:
- CLUB WYNDHAM Plus assessment fees
- CLUB WYNDHAM RCI domestic or international exchange fees
- Worldmark by Wyndham dues (for TravelShare members)
- WorldMark by Wyndham RCI domestic or international exchange fees
- Shell Vacations Club maintenance fees
With Vacation Sidekick annual dues, you get a value of $59.95 for 10,000 points.
Other ways to redeem Wyndham points include:
- Gift cards. You may use your Wyndham points to get gift cards from popular brands such as Starbucks, Amazon.com and Best Buy. However, you usually get a value of around 0.33 cents to 0.37 cents per point.
- Shopping. When you use your points to make purchases through the program's online store, the best you may expect is 0.3 cents or slightly more per point. Some of the popular brands on the platform include Apple, JBL Harman, Ray-Ban, Ralph Lauren, Samsung and Whirlpool.
- AARP. You may use 3,000 Wyndham points when you join AARP or renew your existing membership for one year.
- Tours and activities. This redemption method lets you use your points to book various tours, experiences and activities. In this case, you get a value of 0.35 cents per point.
- Charitable donations. Charitable donations begin at 500 points. Some organizations you may donate your points to include Hotels for Heroes, Save the Children, Starlight Children's Foundation and National Parks Conservation Association.
- Everyday purchases. Using your Wyndham points through Bakkt to pay for everyday online purchases or purchases at merchants that accept Apple Pay or Google Pay is simple. You get up to 1,250 bonus Wyndham points when you link both accounts. You get 750 points more if you redeem your points as cash or the first time you use your Bakkt Visa Debit Card and pay using Wyndham points.
Wyndham Rewards Elite Status
While Wyndham temporarily reduced its qualifying night requirements in 2021, it reverted to the original requirements on January 1, 2023.

Next Steps
If you're thinking about capitalizing on staying at properties that are part of the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts portfolio, getting a co-branded Wyndham credit card from Barclays might work well for you. If you stay at other properties too, or also wish to earn rewards on flight tickets, you may want to consider getting a non-co-branded travel credit card instead. In any case, it's important to understand how the best rewards cards work before making a decision.
