Liability-only motorcycle insurance policies only cover you for damages that you are at-fault for to others. However, a full coverage policy includes this same coverage in addition to comprehensive and collision insurance which covers your vehicle for all incidents other than mechanical breakdowns and wear and tear.

Overall, there are six types of motorcycle insurance coverage that are the same as auto insurance coverages:
Liability Coverage
This type of coverage split into bodily injury liability, which covers injury you cause to others and property damage liability, which covers property damage you are at fault for.
Collision Insurance
This type of motorcycle coverage provides protection for bike damages from any type of collision with another vehicle or a stationary object.
Comprehensive Insurance
This type of insurance covers you for all other incidents that may damage your vehicle including theft, weather, animals and other natural phenomena like falling trees, fire, and falling rocks.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage
Uninsured and Underinsured coverage provides you protection in the case an at-fault driver doesn't have enough liability coverage to cover expenses on your end in an accident.
Medpay
Where available, this covers your personal injuries in an accident, regardless of who is at fault.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
In addition to your own personal injuries in an accident, PIP covers you for lost wages.

Is Motorcycle Insurance Required?
Some form of liability and/or UM/UIM coverage is required in 49 out of 50 states except for Florida. Usually, most states require 25/50/25 liability insurance and coverages for PIP, Medpay, Collision and Comprehensive insurance are in almost all cases optional.
