How to Compare Business Credit Cards & Intro Offers
The best business cards with no foreign transaction fees vary in the features and benefits they offer. This requires that you pay attention to different factors when making a selection.
Co-branded or not
Getting a co-branded no foreign transaction fee business credit card makes sense if you favor using any particular airline, group of hotels or chain of big-box retail stores. Examples of such cards include the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Business Card by Citi and the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card Business Card.
Rewards/cash back rate
The rewards/miles/cash back rate you stand to earn depends on the card you get. For example, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Business Card by Citi lets you earn up to 4% cash back on category-based spending, and purchases that don’t fall under any of the bonus categories earn 1% cash back. The Amex Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business Card, on the other hand, offers up to 3 miles per dollar on bonus categories and 1.5 miles per dollar on all other purchases.
Welcome offer
A number of the top no foreign transaction fee business credit cards come with spend-based welcome offers. For instance, the Capital One Spark Miles for Business Card lets you earn an early spend bonus of 50,000 miles by spending $4,500 on purchases within the first three months.
Annual fee
It's common for most of the top cards from this category to charge annual fees. The Costco Anywhere Visa® Business Card by Citi is a notable exemption.
APR
Pay particular attention to this aspect if you don’t plan to clear off your balances in full each month. Bear in mind that rewards/cash back cards tend to charge higher interest than cards that do not offer rewards/cash back.
Added perks
The annual fee you pay might have a bearing on the additional perks on offer. For example, the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card with an annual fee of $125 comes with complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status, spend-based free night awards, elite night credits and premium internet access at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties. Some of the more common benefits/features come in the form of purchase protection, extended warranty, travel insurance coverage, free employee cards and various expense management tools.
